Amateurs handed golf apparel advice
Published: 16 May 2011
Amateur golfers have been offered advice on what golf clothing to wear when they take to the fairways.Speaking to Investment Executive columnist Fiona Collie, Sandra Post, a veteran instructor and eight-time LPGA champion, claimed that a wardrobe full of "official" clothing is not a necessity.
She recommended taking to the greens in a collared shirt, as many clubs do not allow t-shirts to be worn.
Similarly, Ms Post warned against the majority of shorts, especially cargo pairs that feature bulky pockets.
However, for female golfers, the long-serving coach claimed that skirts should be worn just above the knee, as some clubs take issue with higher cuts.
Ms Post's top tip was that "anything goes" with plaid - and she urged players not to be put off by cliches about tartan outfits and bright check patterns.
Khaki Crusader columnist Sean Hotchkiss recently warned golf apparel enthusiasts to throw away their oversized belt buckles and steer clear of attire worn by Rory Sabbatini.
