Baseball star talks of his other favourite sport - golf

A US sportsman announced his retirement from major league baseball while wearing golf apparel, pointing to how he might now spend his free time.According to Yahoo! Sport Greg Maddux says he plans to use his free hours to play "lots of golf".
Mr Maddux announced his retirement yesterday and the Las Vegas Sun reports this may have annoyed him - as Monday is a day he could be playing golf.
However, the newspaper also points to the fact that by having the conference on Monday, Mr Maddux can play his beloved game without being interrupted on the Tuesday.
He was sporting "what appeared to be" a golf shirt, the newspaper says, which was blue and had a large diamond pattern going down one side.
Mr Maddux made his debut in major league baseball in 1986 and is well known as a big golf fan.
Golf clothing is important to a player's game and with golf sweaters, Ryder Cup shirts and argyle golf knitwear available it is easy to look smart on the course.
