Bright and bold golf apparel is a 'legacy'Bright and bold golf apparel has been promoted as a legacy of the sport.

Writing for golf fashion blog the Khaki Crusader, columnist Sean Hotchkiss noted the prevalence of gaudy colours in the game.

"Bold and bright colours may not have earmarked the very origin of the "game of kings" but they've been a part of the legacy … for quite some time," he said.

Mr Hotchkiss added that the impact of resort-wear has been a fixture of the sport since the 1940s but claimed that the use of colour has never been more "overwhelming" than it is now.

He went on to express his hopes that player's newfound appreciation for "crossover" style and sportswear will provoke a move away from simple coordination and towards complimenting colours.

In a previous article for the website, columnist Annmarie Dodd noted that black, white and red are set to be one of the "strongest" trends for 2011.
