Cotton golf clothing is making a comeback, it has been claimed.
Published: 24 May 2011
Players seeking performance golf shirts are largely confined to products made from synthetic fibres.Polyester and other materials of this kind are used throughout the collections of most famous golf clothing brands.
However, those seeking an alternative may wish to opt for golf apparel made from cotton.
Woody Hochswender, in a recent article for Golf.com, noted that the material has "taken a beating" from its modern alternatives.
He explained that cotton is making a comeback of sorts and attributed the resurgence partly to the efforts of Cotton Incorporated, a US industry group that is "fighting back" against synthetic materials.
Mr Hochswender also noted that golf fashion icon Rickie Fowler was recently seen wearing cotton shirts at the Players Championship.
In a previous article for the publication, the industry pundit cited figures from Golf Datatech research, which indicated a 16 per cent increase in the sales of golf clothing and other outwear during January and February this year.
