So Yeon Ryu wore bright orange golf apparel at the US Women's OpenThe new US Women's Open champion sported a bright orange ladies' shirt as she played her way to victory in the tournament.

So Yeon Ryu wore glow-in-the-dark golf apparel while defeating Hee Kyung Seo in a playoff for the treasured trophy, the San Francisco Gate reports.

The 21-year-old South Korean's shirt was doused in Champagne on the 18th green following the win, which saw her fend off her fellow countrywoman by three shots.

Speaking about one of the country's other legends, Ryu said: "When I started [playing] golf, Se Ri Pak won the US Women's Open tournament, so this tournament is really special for me."

According to the newspaper, the defining moment of the tournament came when Ryu made a birdie on the 18th hole an hour before lifting the trophy, which made the shootout with Seo possible.

The US Women's Open is the oldest competition in the female game, with this year's contest - the 66th in its history - held at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.
