More players dressed in golf apparel could soon descend on AberdeenshireDemand for golf apparel in Aberdeenshire may soon increase after Donald Trump was given the green light to begin building a new championship golf course in the area.

Over the past four years more than £40 million has been invested in the initiative by the celebrity real estate developer, but players in golf clothing will not be able to try out the course until at least 2012, when it is due to open.

It is not just amateurs who could be sporting their performance golf shirts on the links at the Scottish layout, since Trump's team has indicated it would like to host the British Open in the future.

"My team will [now] finally get to work and build the world's greatest golf course for Scotland and for the great game of golf," explained Trump.

The tycoon already owns several courses around the world, including clubs in New York, Washington DC, California and Puerto Rico.
