Golf news: Kingsbarns Golf Links has been heralded as the course of the year.

Golf apparel fans in Scotland keen to tee off at the best locations the country has to offer may want to consider a trip to Kingsbarns Golf Links.This is because the venue has been named the course of the year at Golf Tourism Scotland's (GTS's) Gold Standard Awards.
The ceremony - held at St Andrews - is known as the sector's blue ribbon event and included 11 presentations
Kingsbarns Golf Links was able to hold off stiff competition from North Berwick and Castle Stuart to take home the gong, while the special achievement award was handed to Ian Brunch, the former secretary of Prestwick Golf Club.
Lee Derrick, chairman of the GTS - which was created in 2005 - commented: "This year's awards reflect a busy year of events that have showcased the breadth and depth of Scotland's golfing sector."
He added many of the best players in the world have taken to the fairways across the country this year.
