Outlandish golf apparel can garner plenty of attention.Individuals keen to make a lasting impression when taking to the course may find their choice of golf apparel is one way they stick in the minds of onlookers.

PGATour.com reports that players such as Payne Stewart were well known for their outlandish golf clothing, with the Payne Stewart Award presented annually to a competitor who displays a similar sense of style to the golfer when taking part in the PGA Tour Championship.

The website noted Stewart's father had given him some advice about his get-up that would help him be the focus when out on the fairways.

His father observed: "The easiest way to stand out in a crowd was to dress differently."

Stewart was known for his baggy trousers and peaked hat, the portal explained - and many of today's players are carving out their own golf niches, such as Rickie Fowler and his flat-billed caps and Californian-born John Daly with his loud pants.
