Golf apparel up for grabs in amateur tournamentAmateur golfers are being given the chance to win golf apparel by participating in a forthcoming tournament.

The NorthWest Herald reports that Illinois residents are gearing up for the 41st annual Doc Haznow Chili Open Golf Classic, which takes place in the Crystal Lake Park district.

In a novel twist on the traditional game, staff at the park will construct two nine-hole courses on the frozen surface of Crystal Lake for this year's event.

Due to take place in February, the tournament has attracted growing interest and this year's prizes include golf apparel, painted golf balls and bags.

Each group of four taking part in the event will also receive some chilli from its sponsor and Jack Sebesta, superintendent of recreation at Crystal Lake, claimed it offers players the unique opportunity to play over a body of frozen water.

Last month, Inside Halton reported at a US charity auction, in which bidders got the opportunity to purchase golf clothing.
