Golf clothing wearers are likely to have plenty of options when deciding which courses in the UK to try their hand at.This is because a spokeswoman for VisitLiverpool.com - which is the official tourism portal for the Liverpool city region - has suggested there are many venues in the country competitors should know about.
The representative described the nation's Golf Coast as "the finest stretch of championship golf in the world" and explained the region is home to 19 scenic and challenging courses.
She noted Royal Birkdale, Royal Liverpool and Royal Lytham & St Annes have hosted the Open Championship on numerous occasions since 1987.
In addition, the Ricoh Women's British Open took place at Royal Birkdale this year and will be held at Royal Liverpool in 2012.
The source added: "England's Golf Coast is home to three of the top 20 and seven of the top 36 courses in UK and Ireland."
