Golf clothing wearers in the US are playing their part in helping to raise the spirits of sick youngsters.South Florida PGA professionals Dave Cunliffe, Mark Hamstra, Ryan Alvino, Valerie Moore, Andy Scott and Daryl Hollinshead have made more than 700 visits to hospitals as part of the Smiling Fore Life programme, the Sun Sentinel reports.
The scheme enables young people to try their hand at the game and it is hoped the fun activity will offer relief from the pressures and hardship they face.
David Tkac, director of the Child Life Program at St Mary's Hospital, said the project offers children a chance to better cope with hospitalisation.
Mr Tkac added: "In addition to being great fun, it can help children see they are healing."
Golf apparel wearer Andy Scott - who plays at Kelly Greens Golf and Country Club - said the opportunity to bring a youngster away from a challenging situation has proven highly rewarding.
