Crows have been spotted on a Yorkshire golf course.Golf clothing fans hitting the fairways on a course in Morley may find they have some unexpected playing partners when doing so.

This is because Howley Hall Golf Club has become plagued with crows, with the winged animals known to steal the balls of members during matches, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.

David Jones, club secretary and manager of the course - which was formed in 1900 before undergoing alterations in 1913 - said: "They see a golf ball landing and they swoop down and pick it up, then fly off with it – to where we do not know."

He explained golf apparel fans have been known to charge at the birds in order to remove them from the holes, but the crows have stood their ground.

Up to seven balls a day have been pinched by the flying thieves, with October and November proving to be the months in which the bandits have struck most.
