Golf clothing comes in handy for StocktonGolf clothing came in handy for American golfer Dave Stockton recently.

The Press Enterprise reports that he was dining with friends when PGA Tour official Steve Rintoul rang him with an emergency request.

Stockton had received an invite to urgently replace Ricky Barnes, who had injured himself, at the Bob Hope Classic.

"[Steve Rintoul] says, 'Well, Ricky Barnes' back is out on him, and he's going to have to stop after nine. How fast can you get out here?'," said Stockton.

Luckily, the former PGA-player was already equipped with golf apparel and after picking up his clubs he was on his way to the event.

However, the American player was less than impressed with his performance, claiming "I played like a teacher" and also scored like one.

Earlier in the month, the PGA Tour praised Stockton for his honesty, after the veteran golf instructor suggested his play at the Bob Hope Classic reinforced his belief that he is better off teaching the sport rather than playing it.
