Golf apparel has been promoted as a key part of creating an old-style ball.

An item of golf apparel has been revealed to play a vital role in the recipe for creating balls used in the sport in days of yore.Writing for his golf equipment blog, PGA columnist Adam Barr examined the development process of the featherie, a type of ball used as the standard for centuries in Scotland.
The ball is created by stuffing goose feathers into a leather sack and leaving the creation to naturally harden into a ball-shape.
However, the recipe calls for precise measurements, using an item of golf apparel as the benchmark.
"Stranger still is the recipe for the ball, which required a top hat full of feathers. Imagine an old silk top, [like] the kind Abraham Lincoln and his contemporaries wore," said Mr Barr
In a previous blog post, the equipment expert looked at the new Speedline driver from Adams Golf, noting its unique aerodynamic design properties.
