Golf apparel is starting to change.Golf apparel, clothing and footwear is "slowly improving", according to one expert.

Sean Hotchkiss, founder of golf fashion blog Khaki Crusader, explained professionals and amateur players alike are gradually moving away from the more stereotypical styles associated with the sport.

He said: "I think two things to look for in golf attire going forward is a certain casual but elegant simplicity in design and a continued focus on improving technological fabrics."

Mr Hotchkiss also praised golf shoe makers for developing "cool, colourful collections" that are practical as well as stylish.

His comments follow the recent advice of the Chapeau Noir Golf blog, which suggested matching garish shoes with a belt in a similar hue is a look which should be avoided at all costs.

After golfing professional Kris Blanks paired bright red footwear with a matching belt, bloggers suggested he looked like the Wicked Witch of the East in The Wizard of Oz.
