Canada's Times Colonist reports that the Courtnall Celebrity Golf Classic's third edition, run by the sporting Courtnall brothers, is scheduled to begin this summer.

It follows the previous two events, where celebrities in golf apparel raised over $2 million (£1.2 million) for charity.

Funds from the event go to the Archie Courtnall Centre, an emergency psychiatric unit at Royal Jubilee Hospital, which opened in 2004.

Money raised at this year's celebrity tournament will go towards outfitting the facility's new patient care centre, which requires $4 million for new equipment.

The Courtnalls aim to raise the profile of mental illness and the mental health clinic is named after their father, who committed suicide when they were young.

Earlier in the month, the Surrey Comet reported on a forthcoming celebrity golf event organised by the Princess Alice Hospital in Escher.

The care facility has invited celebrity golfers to wear golf clothing and turn up to raise much-needed funds.
