Golf apparel wearers have raised money for charity.Golf apparel wearers at Kilton Forest Golf Club have demonstrated their support of the Alzheimer's Society.

The organisation lent some of its fundraising money to help finance the construction of the charity's day support centre, which is located in Costhorpe, the Trader and Guardian reports.

Charles Ibberson, captain of the club, explained the group had no hesitation in handing over the cash, noting: "My mother had Alzheimer's disease and died six years ago. I was helping my father and sister to keep mum at home and it was a struggle."

The money raised has been used to pay for new vertical blinds at the facility and Mr Ibberson pointed out is very important that local people offer their support to both those suffering with dementia and their families.

Marie Holt, day support manager at the Alzheimer's Society - which has more than 25,000 members - explained the complex allows patients to take part in social and therapeutic activities with a greater degree of independence.
