Golf news: Martin Kaymer wants to improve his short game.
Published: 08 February 2012
Golf fashion fan Martin Kaymer is hoping improvement in his short game could result in him picking up his 11th European Tour title at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. The German believes his putting has not been up to scratch of late, with his inconsistent form seeing him fail to make the cut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship before finishing eighth at the Qatar Masters.
Kaymer - who is currently ranked number four in the world - noted expectations were high when he took to the tee in Abu Dhabi, but a poor start meant a less than satisfactory performance in a tournament he has won on three of the last four occasions.
The 27-year-old said he feels very comfortable when playing in Dubai - especially after having won the Race to Dubai in 2010 - and observed: "I really want to win again and I think the only thing that was distracting me from winning was my putting."
