Golf fashion fan has struck an unorthodox hole-in-one.An unorthodox hole-in-one has been achieved by golf fashion fan Rickie Fowler, who sported leisurely golf apparel when taking on the shot.

The player - who was named the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2010 and is the only competitor to be the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Player of the Year while still a freshman - holed the shot in an unusual setting that saw him attempt the long range pitch at an outdoor shopping mall in Georgetown, Washington.

Wearing golf apparel that consisted of an orange cap, white shirt and dark shorts, the American hit the 106-yard shot from an elevated tee box, despite the windy conditions.

The attempt was part of a promotional challenge from energy drinks manufacturer Red Bull - and the crowds that gathered at the outside arena cheered when the young sportsman's effort fell onto the make-shift green before dropping into the hole.
