A resort city in Thailand could prove a popular holiday destination among golf apparel fans eager to play the 18-hole game while on vacation.Pattaya, which is situated 150 km south-east of Bangkok, has been named the best golf destination in Asia and Australasia for 2012 by the International Association of Golf Tourism Operators (IAGTO), an organisation that was established in 1997.
Prasertchai Phornprapha, owner of Siam Country Club, said: "Pattaya is a true golf course destination and thoroughly deserves this award ... the strength of the area is the diversity of courses and costs."
And it appears golf fashion fans are likely to have plenty of choice when it comes to which course they would like to practice their swing on, as the city is home to 17 such complexes and is located just 110 km by motorway from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport.
Pattaya's victory was announced at the IAGTO annual marketing showcase at Belek in Turkey.
