The golf fashion world has been set alight by the actions of world number one player Martin Kaymer. After the German appeared at the recent WGC Accenture Match Play Championships in Arizona wearing an item of attire known as a buff, many pundits have commented on its inclusion in his golf apparel ensemble.
The latest of these is Score Golf's Rick Young, who also noted the amount of attention bestowed on the neckwear.
"I wonder what got more attention - Martin Kaymer ascending to the number one ranking in the world this past weekend or the odd looking neckwear he donned," he said.
He consulted veteran golf fashion critic Marty Hackel, who later revealed on Twitter that it was not actually a scarf, but an item of attire favoured by fishing enthusiasts.
Kaymer's neckwear was one of the many "notable" accessories spotted on professionals in Arizona by the Khaki Crusader's Sean Hotchkiss, who made particular mention of the item.
