A golf fashion commentator has examined the divide between players who opt for classic and alternative attire.Writing for the Khaki Crusader, columnist Sean Hotchkiss reviewed some of his photos from the recent Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii and became fixated on two photographs.
He believed snaps of Jonathan Byrd and Kelly Slater emphasised the divide between players who opt for classic golf fashion and those more interested in the new wave of alternative golf clothing.
"Kelly, in his New Era structured cap and slouchy shorts is a perfect example of alternative golf style," said Mr Hotchkiss. "While Byrd … is a poster boy for the classic golf look."
He lamented the lack of brands which "sit between" the two camps and claimed he would prefer elements of both in his golf clothing.
In a previous article for the website, Mr Hotchkiss examined the classic golf attire of Arnold Palmer, noting his choices were quite restricting when compared with modern offerings.
