A golf fashion pundit has examined the use of catalogues.
Published: 29 November 2010
A golf fashion writer has questioned the need for clothing companies to send out yearly catalogues.Writing for the Chapeau Noir golf apparel blog, Mike McAllister mused on which consumers were reading the publications in a mostly digital age.
"Somebody must order from them, or companies wouldn't pay to have them printed," he said. "But honestly, is the golf industry and market that backwards in 2010?"
Mr McAllister also considered the environmental impact of printing thousands of catalogues and advocated replacing the out-dated reading material with contemporary digital offerings.
He was particularly opposed to those publications which "use natural resources" to promote the sale of "atrocious" golf clothing, such as garish shirts.
In a previous blog post, Mr McAllister revealed that he would be making a regular golf fashion contribution to popular Canadian sporting magazine ClubLink Life, which he will be writing in addition to his regular golf apparel column for the PGA.
