Golf news: A new Aberdeenshire golf course could be developed.
Published: 01 November 2011
Players could soon be showing off their golf fashion at a new luxury golf and tourism resort in Aberdeenshire after the development received local backing.Members of the Marr area committee have approved an application for the £100 million facility at Inchmarlo near Banchory, STV.TV reports.
The news means the plans only have to get through a final council meeting in order to become reality.
If the project comes to fruition, around 100 jobs and millions of pounds will be brought into the local economy as competitors take to the fairways in their golf clothing.
The planning report for the development read: "The clear economic benefits which could arise as a result are considered to outweigh the conflict with the Aberdeenshire local plan policy in respect of housing in the countryside."
One famous face who might be interested in the new course is rocker Alice Cooper, who recently told the Daily Record he always plays golf whenever he goes to Scotland to rediscover his roots.
