An increasing number of people in the Gulf could soon be wearing golf apparel and taking to the fairways, if Colin Montgomerie has anything to do with it.The Scot has given a golf clinic in Bahrain as part of his role as ambassador of the sport for HSBC and the presence of the former Ryder Cup captain in the region could spur a new generation of players to buy golf clothing.
A number of fans were treated to a round at the Royal Golf Club in Riffa and HSBC Bahrain chief executive officer Patrick Gallagher told Gulf Daily News the company was thrilled to have Montgomery present for the gathering.
The player himself - who turned professional in 1987 - explained this occasion was the fourth of six clinics he is performing with the bank, meaning fans in other locations will get the opportunity to see the eight-time European Order of Merit winner in action.
"Golf is all about education so hopefully some will take on board the advice and it then benefits their game," he added.
