John Petrie has been named the new chief executive of England Golf, those with an interest in golf fashion may be excited to learn. The industry figure is the first person to take the post after the organisation was created following the merger of the English Golf Union (EGU) and the English Women's Golf Association (EGWA) on January 1st 2012.
And it seems Mr Petrie will be bringing plenty of experience to the table, as he used to serve in the same role at the EGU.
Mr Petrie said it is both an honour and a challenge to take up the position, noting he is fortunate to have great support behind him - with the board, volunteers who back the governance of golf and staff from the EGU and EWGA all behind him.
He stated: "I am under no illusions that there is a huge task ahead bringing two successful companies together to make one even more successful company."
England Golf will strive to look after the interests of more than 1,900 golf clubs and 770,000 male and female club members.
