Glenmuir golf apparel fan Paul Lawrie may soon use a belly putter.Gelnmuir golf clothing wearer Paul Lawrie has revealed he may give a belly putter another try - after earlier vowing to never use the long club again.

In golf news that may surprise many of the star's fans, Lawrie said he now owns a form of the stick that he enjoys - but suggested the Dunhill Links Championship may not be the best place to use it.

The former Open champion explained: "It is not great from distance and is horrible in the wind. You are likely to get a lot of long putts this week."

Lawrie - who turned professional in 1986 - noted the last time he used a belly putter was at a tournament in Wales around four or five years ago - an experience he described as "horrendous".

However, a two-ball design is now to the player's liking and so could form an important part of his play in the months and years to come.
