Golf news: Sandy Lyle has received a prestigious honour.

Golf clothing wearer Sandy Lyle has been handed a prestigious honour following a successful career at the top of the game.The 53-year-old has been inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame after elections were conducted via an international ballot.
Lyle's career has seen him collect 29 worldwide titles - including the 1985 Open and the 1988 US Masters - and said he was delighted to earn this latest recognition.
The golf apparel wearer - who was born in Shrewsbury and turned professional in 1977 - noted: "I would like to thank all who voted for me – to be placed in the company of the greatest names in our game is very special."
Peter Alliss and Phil Mickelson are also being inducted into the pantheon and the trio are to be presented at a ceremony in Florida next year, with chief executive of the European Tour George O'Grady noting the announcement marked a special day for the game.
