Golf news: An 11-year-old boy has hit an ace.
Published: 20 January 2012
An 11-year-old boy may well be wearing golf apparel as part of his job in the future after achieving a feat that many professionals are likely to be jealous of.George Rumble sunk a hole-in-one at Silverstone Golf Club - which is a par 72 course - while hitting the fairways with his father and grandfather, the Banbury Guardian reports.
The schoolboy was taking part in an event organised by members of Chipping Warden Golf Society to celebrate New Year and saw his hit on the eighth hole of the course bounce twice before dropping into the hole.
His dad Jason Rumble said his son was astonished when the ball fell beneath the flag, adding: "George has only just started playing so we had to tell him what it really meant, but everyone was really happy for him."
George was given £10 for his effort, in addition to a certificate from the club that is to be framed and hung up at the family's home.
