A lost bet on an American Football game has prompted US golfer Jerry Kelly to take to the fairways in some unconventional golf apparel. He showed up at a pro-am event at the Colonial Country club while dressed in the costume of the Texas Christian University mascot Superfrog, ESPN reports.
This was prompted after he made a bet on a Rose Bowl game between the educational establishment's Horned Frogs team and the Wisconsin Badgers.
After the Texans strode to victory in the competition, Kelly made good on his promise and turned up in his unusual golf clothing.
"He's a great guy, great for the game and a fun guy to be around. Today is all about having a great time. It was fun to do this," said bet-winner JJ Henry.
Kelly revealed that his experience had given him a newfound respect for mascots and he expressed relief that the weather was nice on the day.
Unusual golf fashion will be a staple at this year's Wacky Golf Scramble in Wright City, as players have been offered a prize for the best redneck golf attire, Suburban Journals reports.
