Golf apparel is being 'increasingly influenced by mainstream style'

Mainstream styles 'invading the world of golf clothing'Mainstream fashion styles are becoming increasingly incorporated into golf apparel, it has been claimed.

Writing for the Khaki Crusader, columnist Sean Hotchkiss reported on the trend and applauded the move towards innovation from brands.

"In terms of the similarities between golf style and the mainstream style and culture going on outside of it, I mouth bravo while giving a standing ovation," he said.

Mr Hotchkiss went on to express his hopes that golf fashion will continue to evolve in this manner but warned that the aesthetic should not put the sport's traditional values at risk.

He suggested that if any of the key players or brands behind the movement were to be consulted, he predicted that a "real respect" for the traditions of the game would be discovered.

In a previous post for the blog, Mr Hotchkiss claimed that Luke Donald is a master of layering when it comes to golf attire and praised his understanding of style.
