Golf apparel customers may be interested to read that the American and European teams for next year's Ryder Cup tournament will have four vice-captains.

US captain Corey Pavin and Europe's chief Colin Montgomerie revealed the news to reporters at a press conference held yesterday (June 3rd).

Paul Azinger opted for three vice-captains when leading the US team to victory over the Europeans last year at Valhalla, Kentucky, while European captain Nick Faldo had just one.

This year both captains will select four key assistants, with Montgomerie explaining: "I believe it is very important to work together as a group to feed off information that is coming from the course, the locker room and from other sources."

He added that Thomas Bjorn and Paul McGinley could be in the running to take vice-captain roles in the European team after he previously selected them as Seve Trophy captains.

Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility of Tiger Woods joining the US team, Pavin said that the World Number One player "wants to win the Ryder Cup very badly".
