Golf news: Bill Haas has won the Northern Trust Open.
Published: 22 February 2012
Bill Haas showed off his golf fashion when collecting the trophy at the Northern Trust Open. The 29-year-old sported a stripy golf shirt as he hoisted the cup after a 45-foot birdie putt enabled him to win a three-man playoff against Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley.
Haas held his nerve to sink the long shot on the second playoff hole - an effort that secured his fourth Tour title.
His drive on the tenth proved a little wayward, but the American was able to recover with a fine chip onto the green and round it off with the huge final shot.
Speaking to PGATour.com, the competitor - who turned professional in 2004 - said he was surprised to see the 40-yarder nestle in the hole.
He stated: "That was a little bit of luck involved, but felt like I put a good roll on it and it was meant to be, I guess."
