Sports stars have worn golf clothing for a special fundraiser.A number of Pittsburgh's favourite sporting sons have showed off their golf clothing while appearing in a celebrity fundraiser.

Stars including Pittsburgh Steelers Rocky Bleier - who was drafted to the team in 1968 - and Mike Merriweather turned out in golf apparel as they hit the fairways in the second annual Black and Gold Celebrity Golf Classic, Peters Patch reports.

The event was co-hosted by the Meadows Racetrack and Casino and money was raised for the World War II Veterans of Southwestern Pennsylvania Memorial Fund.

It was held at the Southpointe Golf Club in Cannonsburg and among those parading their golf fashion were Pittsburgh Pirate Grant Jackson, former Pittsburgh Penguin Pierre Larouche, ex Pittsburgh Steelers Greg Lloyd and Mel Blount and boxer Michael Moorer.

Sean Sullivan, vice-president and general manager of the Meadows Racetrack and Casino, said: "I've never seen so many of our city's greatest sports stars in one place before."
