Players from around the world look set to parade their golf fashion at a new golf resort in Northern Ireland after plans for the development got the green light.Following a lengthy dispute, the go-ahead has been granted to the building of an 18-hole course and hotel complex at Runkerry - and the facility is expected to create 360 new jobs.
The venue will be called Bushmills Dunes Golf Resort and Spa and will include a five-star 120-bedroom hotel and 70 golf lodges.
It is hoped the course might be open in 2014 as it is understood that planners from the Department of Environment recommended the development goes ahead, despite opposition voiced by the National Trust.
Alex Attwood, environment minister - who is also the MLA for West Belfast - said he considered both sides of the argument, adding: "Given the boost to tourism and the economy that the proposal will bring, I have decided to grant planning permission."
