Pundit weighs in on golf apparel disputeAn industry pundit has weighed in on a dispute involving golf apparel.

Writing for the Chapeau Noir golf fashion blog, columnist Mike McAllister was queried by one British reader who had been told his socks were inappropriate while playing in shorts on a balmy spring day.

The reader explained that his choice of golf clothing was knee-length tailored shorts and a sock covered by the publication last year.

Having checked the club's policy on attire, the reader was vindicated that he was in the right.

Mr McAllister responded with claims that the club's policy on apparel is in need of an update and volunteered his services for the task.

He was similarly critical of the player who pointed out the sock error of the reader and noted the style is becoming increasingly popular "among golfers of style".

In an earlier post for the website, Mr McAllister queried the decision of Charl Schwartzel to deviate from his clothing script at the Masters.
