The Western Mail reports that "knickerbockers and flat caps" are being replaced by shorts and colourful skirts as once-strict dress codes are brought up to date.

Welsh golf professional Rhian Wyn Thomas told the Western Mail that the sport had drastically transformed in terms of golf fashion since the announcement that Wales would be hosting the event.

She said: "It's always good to promote the fun side of golf. You get a lot of colour on the course and short shorts, plus there is a couple of models playing as well."

Celtic Manor, where the Ryder Cup is due to be held this year, boasts a 7,493 yard purpose-built course for the event, as well as two other 18-hole courses and a range of other golfing facilities.
