Published: 23 January 2012
Sam Torrance will be looking to shine in his golf apparel over the coming 12 months after announcing he hopes 2012 will prove to be a big year for him.The 58-year-old said he has been putting in the hours in the close season as he hopes to up his game following a disappointing couple of years.
And it could be that the former Ryder Cup-winning captain is soon squeezing into smaller golf clothing as a result of a new training regime that is aiming to boost both his performance on the fairways and his general health.
Torrance - who has 11 Senior Tour wins to his name - stated: "I've been very mediocre for two years now but I'm looking forward to the 2012 season and trying to get a bit fitter over the winter period."
He added that while it is tough to play as well in older age as it was during his younger days, there is plenty of time for him to get trim before the new season kicks off.
