A representative of the Celtic Haven Sport is Beauty programme has hailed the "funky" items of golf clothing which will be worn by participants later in the year. The Tenby Observer reports that Emma Guerreiro inherited her love of the sport from her father, who used to caddy for Christie O'Connor in Portugal.
She told the publication that she is "keen" to change the perceptions of the game as a sport for older people.
"For me, it's about women of all ages - from eight to 80 - enjoying golf as a fabulous way to relax and meet up with friends," Guerreiro said.
She went on to express her delight at joining the Sport is Beauty team, which will promote the sport to newcomers, and noted that by wearing their "funky" golf apparel, they will challenge perceptions that the sport is male-oriented.
This comes after a Clublink Life article recommended that players buy themselves some new golf apparel to mark the beginning of 2011.
