'Whacky' golf clothing to be worn for charityEccentric golf clothing is to be worn by participants at a forthcoming fundraising event.

Attendees at the Golf Bash - Party in Plaid, held by the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito and the Century Club of San Diego, have been invited to turn up in "whacky" golf apparel.

The fundraising event will run prior to the Farmers Insurance Open tournament, scheduled to begin on January 27th 2011 at the Belly Up Tavern, the North County Times reports.

The Early Birdie Social Hour will kick off early in the morning and run until shortly before noon and will include a raffle, silent auction and entertainment from the Tailchasers Band.

Attendees can also opt to have their picture taken in "whacky" golf clothing on a special "green carpet" catwalk.

Earlier in the month, the Surrey Comet reported on a forthcoming charity event at Princess Alice Hospital.

The Esher-based hospice has invited celebrity players to wear their golf clothing and take to the fairways at a local course.
