Golf sweater needed at event.Golf fashion fans who attended the Buick Invitational golf tournament were advised to bring a golf sweater of other item of warmer golf apparel, reports Sign On San Diego.

Writing for the Teeing Off section of the site, Tod Leonard says that temperatures at the tournament were expected to be low so an extra layer may be needed for bystanders.

Last Friday saw the third round of the tournament take place at Torrey Pines.

Starting bright and early, golfers Camilo Villegas, John Rollins and Charley Hoffman all took to the course at 7:35am local time.

The Buick Invitational started out as the San Diego Open in 1952.

The event then moved to Torrey Pines golf course in 1968, where it became known as the Andy Williams San Diego Open.

Well-known pro golfers such as Tiger Woods have previously taken part in the prestigious tournament.

Woods is currently the defending champion of the event.
