Golf news: New club planned by Scottish golf club ownerSports enthusiasts who are waiting warmer weather so they can hit the links may be cheered by some recent golf news.

The owner of the Kinloss Country Golf Club commented that the current cold temperatures will have a positive influence on Moray Council when it considers his planning application for an indoor golf facility.

Tommy Dingwall pointed out that if the proposed leisure and sporting establishment was already open for business, local golfers could enjoy playing year-round.

Plans for a state-of-the-art facility containing indoor features such as a golf simulator, tennis courts and holiday chalets were previously turned down by the local authority, which deemed the application for 14 houses to be inappropriate.

But Mr Dingwall said he hopes updated plans due to be submitted to the council in a few weeks' time may be met with a different fate.

In other golf news, property mogul Donald Trump recently expanded his portfolio by purchasing two golf courses in the US last month.

The star of The Apprentice in the US has added the Branton Woods Golf Club in New York and the Pine Hill Golf Course in Pennsylvania to his other golf course holdings.
