Golf accessories part of online golf apparel scamGolf clubs and items of golf clothing are among sportswear items involved in an online scam thought to be one of the biggest frauds ever seen.

Gary Bellchambers, 45, from Rainham, east London, has admitted conspiracy, along with two others, to distribute golf clubs and golf clothing on the online auction site eBay.

Snaresbrook Crown Court was told that the scam involving the selling of fake items could impact "every major golf brand", by prosecution representative Adam Davis, reported the Times.

"This is a conspiracy of a truly global nature," he noted.

Such a case could highlight the potential importance and benefits of buying golf clothing, golf clubs and golf accessories from a known and reputable online retailer.

Authorities were first highlighted to the scam after a woman who attempted to get a refund on two golf clubs she had bought complained when her letters to the seller were ignored.
