Golf apparel item has "tremendous history".

The green golf jacket given to players who are victorious in the Masters tournament is more than just an item of golf apparel, it has been claimed.Writing for the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, Gary D'Amato notes that the jacket "does not represent the height of fashion".
"Truth be told, if the jacket hung on the rack at a thrift shop - not that it ever would - it probably would get passed over by plenty of unsuspecting customers," he jokes.
However, he says that the golf clothing item is a symbol of tradition and history.
He says that as a symbol of singular achievement, the jacket is mostly unrivalled in the sports world and has no equals in the golf world specifically.
Trevor Immelman, the defending Masters Champion, said that it is "incredible" that the item of golf fashion has "such tremendous history" to it.
The Tour De France sports tournament is also known for its colourful garments, with green and yellow jerseys awarded to certain riders.
