With Wales due to host the Ryder Cup this October, sales of golf clothing and other golfing equipment could see a definite boost. In the run-up to the event, several golf courses across the region have seen a massive increase in people investing in golf equipment and attending courses.
Wales' oldest golf course in Tenby is just one of the venues to see a boom in the lead up to the cup. It has seen over a thousand juniors and ladies take up courses through the club, as well as over 200 people attending starter schemes.
Tenby secretary David Hancock said he welcomed the upcoming event and the additional funding it had brought the historic club.
He said: "We could never have afforded new facilities ourselves so when the Ryder Cup Wales grants became available, we thought it was ideal."
The official Ryder Cup site states that a number of initiatives to promote the region were launched in the wake of Wales' successful bid for the cup back in 2003.
