"It's in the bag" takes on whole different meaning when it comes to golf bags, one writer has quipped.

When donning their golf apparel and taking to the course, golfers often have a golf bag filled to the brim with supplies, it has been claimed.

Writing for the Delta Optimist, amateur golfer Barbara Gunn quipped that golf bags are designed with "approximately 372 compartments".

"It has come to my attention that when you golf, you need to take stuff with you. An awful lot of stuff," she pointed out.

As well as the golf clothing outfit that they are wearing and the golf clubs with which they have chosen to play the game, players also take to the fairway with items such as golf gloves, an extra pair of golf shoes and other items such as mints, tissues, suntan lotion and plasters, Ms Gunn commented.

When taking to the course on a sunny day, golfers may find that a golf hat is the perfect addition to their golf apparel outfit - and could look stylish as well as shielding their eyes from the sunshine.
