Henrik Stenson's seven-figure European career earnings are boosted by golf clothing sponsorship.

The £8 million in prize money Henrik Stenson has won in Europe so far pales into insignificance alongside the sponsorship of his golf clothing, according to the Times.

Readers are told of the player's deals with Srixon for his hat and bag, and Hugo Boss for his golf clothing.

Between such deals, the publication contends that Stenson may well earn significantly more than his European career winnings to date.

This is despite the fact that he has scooped around €9 million, equivalent to about £8 million at current exchange rates.

However, he will not be scoring a high finish in this year's WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, having been knocked out in the first round of the event.

Speaking to the organisers, Stenson admitted that he has become accustomed to lasting longer into the event.

But he pointed out that 32 players must leave after the first round, meaning it is always possible that he could be among the unlucky few.
