Golf clothing pundit explores Sabbatini's headgear choiceA golf fashion pundit has examined the reasons behind the decision of Rory Sabbatini to attend the Honda Classic sporting a cowboy hat.

Writing for Chapeaunoir Golf, columnist Mike McAllister claimed that "we all know" Sabbatini's wide-brimmed choice of golf clothing was a "bad look" but discovered a good reason behind its inclusion.

He cited a report from Larry Dorman of the New York Times, in which the correspondent was informed that the headgear was a precaution against developing skin cancer, a condition that the player had previously suffered through.

Mr McAllister claimed that this is more than enough justification for wearing an item of golf clothing which he asserted made Sabbatini appear like a "modern-day golfing Hopalong Cassidy".

"The moral of the story? Making a fashion choice based on your health should never take a backseat to making a fashion statement," he said.

This latest headgear controversy follows the golf fashion frenzy which was sparked when world number one Martin Kaymer recently took to the fairways in a scarf-like accompaniment known as a buff.
