Golf course clothing 'under the spotlight'
Published: 08 May 2009
The attire of a golfer is one of the most iconic aspects of the game, however, standards appear to be slipping for some, it has been noted. Patrick LaGreid wrote in his blog for the Seattle Examiner that many of today's professionals are failing to impress in the golf attire stakes.
He noted a trend in recent years for players to move towards the garish when taking to the course and growing use of bright colours and shiny materials, making golfers look like figures of fun, rather than the well-dressed gents of yesteryear.
The PGA rules state: "Proper attire will consist of long dress trousers and dress golf shirts with collars."
Meanwhile, professional golfer John Daly recently caused a stir when he took to the tee at the PGA Golf Catlunya event.
He wore a bright orange golf shirt combined with a checked pair of pink, purple, red and orange golf trousers, an outfit that showed off his flambuoyant side and make no mistake.
