Golf fashion fans use US Open to search for the best buys in golf apparel.

Golf fans that attended the recent US Open also made the most of the golf fashion bargains on offer at the event, a source says.

Writing for Newsday, Carol Polsky states that after all the golf had been played, many returned to the Bethpage State Park golf course to visit the merchandise stands.

"The big white merchandise pavilion drew the crowds with offers of half-price golf shirts, towels and teddy bears," she says.

Ms Polsky says that by mid-morning, the car parks and roads leading in and out of the area were jammed, with one shopper telling the source that she spent more than an hour travelling to hunt out the golf apparel on offer.

Victoria Woods also says that her husband was calling her from work with orders from friends, all keen to get their hands on cut-price golf accessories and golf clothing.

Lucas Glover was victorious in this year's US Open, with fellow US golfer Phil Mickelson coming in second.
